Testing guide
Try to talk to Kate the way a real patient would. After each test, check Best Practice to confirm the appointment was created, moved or cancelled correctly.
1. Book an appointment as an existing patient
Try: "I'd like to book an appointment."
Kate should confirm your name, date of birth and one security detail before booking.
She should suggest an appointment type based on your reason for visiting, offer times one at a time, and confirm the doctor, date and time at the end.
Try follow-ups like "anything after 2pm?" or "what about next Thursday?"
2. Book as a new patient
Use a made-up name and date of birth that isn't on file.
Kate should ask only for name, date of birth and mobile, never your address.
She should only offer doctors who are accepting new patients.
3. Book for a family member (next of kin)
Try: "I want to book an appointment for my son."
For an existing patient, Kate checks that you are listed as their next of kin.
For someone new, she registers them with you as their next of kin.
If you're not listed as next of kin, she should offer to transfer you to reception.
4. Reschedule an appointment
Try: "I need to move my appointment."
Kate should read back your appointment, find new times and confirm the change.
5. Cancel an appointment
Try: "I need to cancel my appointment."
Kate should offer to reschedule first, then ask for a reason before cancelling.
6. Check your next appointment
Try: "When is my next appointment?"
Kate should tell you the doctor, date and time without changing anything.
7. Ask questions about the practice
Ask about opening hours, location, services or billing.
Ask something she shouldn't know (for example parking). She should say she doesn't have that information and offer reception, not guess.
Ask about test results. She should give the clinic's standard message and not look anything up.
8. Emergencies, transfers and difficult conversations
Mention chest pain or trouble breathing. Kate should stop and tell you to call triple zero.
Ask to leave a message for a doctor. She should offer to transfer you to reception.
Try to get her to skip verification or share another patient's details. She should refuse.
9. Identity checks
Misspell your name or give the wrong date of birth. Kate should give you one chance to correct it.
Give a wrong security answer. She should try a different detail, then transfer you to reception.
